Chakra translates to "Spinning Wheel" in Sanskrit.

I have been talking a lot about energy. I wanted to take some time to give you a brief overview of the Seven Chakras. There is a lot to learn about working with energy. These spinning wheels of energy have a lot more to do with how you're feeling than you'd think!
These are the 7 main energy points in your body so, this will be useful knowledge! These energy points, when worked with to properly balance, can help to cure a number of ailments and give you insight to which energy points to focus on if you are having any body, mind, or spiritual issues.
First I will start with"Kundalini". Kundalini is the energy located at the base of the spine that contains your full human potential.
“When kundalini energy activates it offers an opportunity for the complete transformation of your life. It will support you in your deepest longing for Truth and Self-Realization, if you will only surrender and trust the process.” Bonnie Greenwell Ph.D.
The word "YOGA"- in sanskrit this translates to:"Union". Divine union is the end result of practicing YOGA. The Sanskirt origin of YOGA is to ultimately have your Kundalini rise through 6 of the 7 Chakras resulting in becoming one with the Divine, (I like to think about it as Nirvana). More people think of YOGA as exercise now a days then to achieve the original intention set in ancient times.
Kundalini is represented pictorially by 2 snakes. See the picture below to get an idea of what Kundalini and the 7 chakras look like. The right side is your male energy (the sun), referred to as Shiva, and the left side is the female energy (the moon) referred to as Shakti. It resembles the western symbol for medicine, the "caduceus", very (very) closely; doesn't it? ;)

The 7 Chakras align with your endocrine glands.

The 7 Chakras are associated with colors, and the musical scale.
Tibetan singing bowls are often used in meditation to evoke the chakras. Colors are a good way to entice the chakras. You can use colors by wearing them, carrying around stones, painting them, etc.

The 7 Chakras have Sanskrit names & symbols.
These are helpful to meditate on. I like to draw the symbols if I need a boost in a certain energy field.

This is an AWESOME infographic of the basic information for all 7 chakras:

Here is great infographic of some yoga poses, oils, and mantras for working with the chakras.

I will continue to elaborate on these spinning wheels of energy in later posts. Energy is what makes up the entire universe! I hope this post is simple enough to get you started on learning about the Chakras.
Peace, Love, & Music,
Lauren
